Curriculum

September 2025

At our nursery, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which sets out seven important areas of learning and development. These are woven into everything we do, so that learning happens naturally through play, exploration, and everyday routines.

  • Communication and Language – We encourage children to talk, listen, share stories, and ask questions, helping them to build confidence and develop a rich vocabulary.

  • Physical Development – Through both indoor and outdoor play, children develop their coordination, balance, and movement, as well as learning how to look after their bodies and make healthy choices.

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development – We support children in building positive relationships, developing independence, learning to manage feelings, and becoming confident members of our nursery community.

  • Literacy – From enjoying stories and rhymes to mark-making and early writing, we help children build the foundations for reading and writing in a fun and meaningful way.

  • Mathematics – Children explore numbers, shapes, measures, and patterns through hands-on activities that make problem-solving and counting exciting and relevant.

  • Understanding the World – We spark curiosity about the world around us, encouraging children to explore nature, technology, different cultures, and their local community.

  • Expressive Arts and Design – Creativity flourishes as children experiment with art, music, dance, role play, and imaginative activities that let them express themselves freely.

By nurturing all seven areas, we aim to give every child the best possible start, helping them grow into curious, capable, and confident learners, ready for the next stage of their education.
